How would it sound if I put three Fender Red Lace Sensor pickups in my strat?
I have a potential trade for three red lace sensor pickups. Everywhere I look online I cant find anyone who has done all three pickups as red lace sensors. has anyone done this? Or, hav an idean as to how it would sound?
Hello! Although I have not personally made this modification, I have used all "silver" (fat Strat) pickups on a 1991 Strat Plus in the past, which I liked very much. My best guess would be that with the "reds", you would have a slight mismatch in volume and bass levels when switching between the pickups, but you could compensate with guitar controls and amplifier settings. The middle pickup would likely be okay with adjustments, but the neck may sound a little harsh as you try to filter out the excessive bass tones. Lace sensors typically function best at one optimal height setting, so any tweaking would have to be made at the guitar, amplifier, or pedal controls. Wish I could have helped more.
