What's the best Ernie Ball strings to get?
I play mostly Dream Theater/Liquid Tension Experiment stuff, so it'd actually help if someone knew the type Petrucci plays. I know he plays .10's, but there's so many different types of Ernie Balls to choose from: Nickel-Wound, Titanium, Reinforced, Pure Nickel, Stainless Steel, and the standard Single Strings. Which ones should I pick up to match Petrucci's sound? Thanks.
if your goin for a deep sound like drop tuning you go with a heavy gauge they hold better when stretched. the lighter gauges give you more of a bright sound. Nickel and titanium is just in the wind and titanium is stronger with brighter sound.....Go with nickel-wound there cheaper then experiment with each gauge but heavy is for hard deep riffs light for finesse
