How much would i sell this guitar for?
Its a black Fender Starcaster Strat with a white pick guard, maple neck and headstock, and its in great condition with minor scratches. Approximatley how much would i sell it for?
You need to find out the specs for this guitar.
You can go to the Fender web site and ask customer service for the details of your guitar. Give them the identification number and they'll send you the info.
Then go to e-bay and see what similar guitars are selling for.
The reason I suggest that you get the info from Fender is that it is important to know the precise specs of your guitar. For example, many people don't realize that in *some* fenders have a space carved out under the guard to easily convert the guitar to get a "fat" sound. This wouldn't be the case if you have an original Starcaster (1976-1982). But there are other specs that might be unique to your guitar. Fender keeps these records on each guitar in their database and they can send a spec sheet to you via e-mail.
Once you know that name of the color of your guitar, you can also find how many years that color was made. If it is a good color that was only made for a year or two, you can get more money.
Knowing all of this info will help you get top dollar for your guitar.
I sold my strat two or three years ago for $750, which was more than the average price, because I learned that the color was rare and I mentioned this is my ads.

ADDED: There is a *misconception* that these guitars are junk. But the originals are sought out by people who know the real deal. Anyone that will tell you that a guitar is a piece of junk without learnign the specs, listening to it, and seeing how well it holds a tuning, is probably some one who buys guitars and is trying to keep prices low.
