No sound from onkyo subwoofer?
I have a powered Onkyo SKW-530 subwoofer hooked up to an Onkyo HTR530 receiver. There is no sound comming out of it. There is a green light that says that it is on even when the reciever is off (it should be red when the reciever is off). When i change the output level it makes a boom noise. There is nothing visibly wrong with it and the cable looks fine. The cable is a monster cable and it is hooked up in the right direction. I tried hooking up another cord to it and the sub still had the same problem. I don't know why it stopped working. Could it be because when I rearranged the sub box around in my living room I unplugged the patch cord and not the power cord. I had the patch cord unplugged for two days with the power cord plugged into the outlet. Did it fry the amplifier in the sub box. I plugged the sub itself into the right speaker output and it made noise so I know the subwoofer itself still works. Can certain parts be replaced. Is it worth it. I need bass! Please help!
Maybe you need to reverse your rca wires. You could have inverted the polarity causing a minor short. This should be temporary.
Monster Cable are infamous for selling incorrectly or poor labled polariy/direction lables with their wires and packaging.
Ask the expert at Best Buy if they sell "Polarity Labled" Monster Brand Subwoofer Wires.
Make sure they are black colored or you you could incorectly plug it to the wrong output in you receiver.
