Can I take a floyd rose off and put a fixed bridge on the guitar?
I want to put a fixed bridge on my guitar but it has a floyd rose on it can a guitar store take it off and put a fixed bridge on it for me?Havent been playing very long
It can be done, but you're looking at having to have the body cavity filled where the tremolo block was, painted to match, and then a new tail piece put on. For that kind of labor, you're looking at at least $400.
So, it's most likely not worth doing that to your guitar.
A better solution would be either having a guitar block the tremolo where it doesn't move, or install a Hipshot Tremsetter to stabilize it. The Tremsetter (available through Musician's Friend) is less than $40, and a decent guitar tech should be able to install it for you for about that much.
The best part is if you decide to return the guitar to stock or sell it later it's removable with no ill effects left behind on your guitar.
