I want to learn bass guitar, but I'm afraid I won't get it. Advice?
I had a sudden urge to learn bass guitar, I've always wanted to learn how to play an instrument but electric guitar seems to showy, (like if I were in a band, I wouldn't want a lot of attention, and I can't drum worth crap, so bass seems like a natural choice and I've always been interested.) But I'm afraid that if I tried to learn now that people would think I was trying to act cool or something. I'm 15, and I have absolutely no musical experience, save for 6 months of violin back in the 4th grade. I mean, I don't know how to read music, and I don't know the terminology or chords or anything like that. What steps should I take?
Does your school do instrument lessons, if they do, try it out, then maybe get lessons. If not, use the phone book to find a teacher. That's all you'll need to do, except renting or buying a bass. People shouldn't thing your trying to act cool, if they do their just clueless... anyway. I hope you do start. good luck
