Need help purchasing a fuzz pedal?
I want that 60's garage psychedelic sound, like velvet underground, 13th floor elevators, etc. So im looking for a fuzz pedal that has that vintage 60's sound but i dont really want to buy a vintage pedal unless I have to. Ive been looking at the fuzz faces, Maestro pedals, and big muff fuzzes. Are there any good alternatives, or a pedal that could get the fuzz face sound along with the maestro sound.
I really dont want to have to buy three or more fuzz pedals, I'd like to be able to buy one fuzz pedal thatd be able to get all three of those sounds. One pedal ive been looking at is the Blackout Effectors Twosome Dual Fuzz. I need some help, I dont really know the differences between fuzzes.
Some of my equipment is the Vox AC-50, then my main guitar is an archtop guitar, the epiphone emperor regent, and my other guitar is a 335 copy, I cant remember the name right now. Some of my pedals are the Holy Grail and the Tube Screamer deluxe.
I'm no expert, but I did own a Big Muff pedal back when I was in high school many ages ago and it was awesome. I sold it for $20 when I went to college and am kicking myself for that now! They are a really well built and nice sounding fuzz box. I don't have experience with the others you've mentioned though. My multi-effects pedal I use now does have the Fuzz Face and Big Muff options for distortion and I prefer the Big Muff if that's any help. You should really go to a store and try them out though. The Guitar Center near me has a whole rack of effects and you can plug in a guitar and try them out through the headphones. Give that a shot and see what sound you like the best.
