Marlin 795 (mag) vs marlin 60 (tube)?
I guess its a battle between feeding types.
I think that the classic tube fed is the better since 1, you can hold more rounds in there. and 2, no fuss with wear and tear from loading and unloading magazines. it's a necessity that is already attached.
but mags have that advantage of being ready (if loaded). say you want have 3 mags loaded on your belt you can just quickly change out instead of loading all 14 or so rounds in a tube.
which do you think is the better and why?
You've asked a classic question. I prefer tube fed. I find it easier to take a handful of 22's and drop them one by one down the tube vs pressing them into a magazine.
And 14-18 rounds in the tube is more than 7-10 in a mag, unless you have a Ruger 10/22 and have a 30 rd mag. A 30 rd (banana) mag is ok for plinking but I wouldn't want to carry one in the woods hunting. And no matter how many mags you have, they all have to be reloaded sometime.
If I'm hunting with my Marlin 60, I don't think I would ever shoot all 14 rounds at once and need more immediately. When you're down to your last 4-5 rounds and you're just waiting for the next squirrel to show it's self, pull the rod and top it off.
As far safety, I've never thought about loading or unloading a semi-automatic rifle in my car or truck!
