What are the different kinds of potentiometers and what are their differences?
I'm following this schematic for a guitar effects pedal here:

On the schematic it shows potentiometers two which have a "c" in front of it and two if which have a "b" in front. The parts supplier that I buy from has "Audio," "Linear," and "W" taper potentiometers. Which one is which? Thanks.
A=audio taper
B=linear
C=reverse audio taper
Any pot of the right resistance would work. The different types just match our perception of sound (like turn the audio volume pot 10% higher and it seems to our ears (non-linear response) the sound is really 10% louder) but really the pot resistance output is not 10%. The linear pot is truly linear, so if you connect it in a lamp dimmer circuit 10% of a turn really is 10% brighter. The reverse audio pot just has the non-linear resistance response opposite of the audio taper.
