wich would be better epiphone les paul new or
Les Paul Standard Gibson Guitar 1983 with this characteristics:This guitar did have tremolo set up but the previous owner (I don't why) took it out and put a basic bridge set up in. It was most likely a Kahler tremolo system which can be ordered. The bridge has some metal corrosion in spots (viewable in picture) but I put new strings on and it plays fine. I would dump the bridge set up and slap a tremolo system of your choice back in and it would be good to go. Guitar over all in my opinion is in great condition for its age. It does have some minor nicks and wear but nothing major
I would take the new Epiphone.
No Les Paul EVER had a Kahler or any "through body" tremolo, so you are looking at a butchered guitar or a fake.
The only trem that any LP has ever had on it was what is called a "side mount" tremolo, and this was in the 60s and 70s.
When you remove a tremolo it is next to impossible to install a bridge/tailpiece combination without filling in the tremolo cavities and doing so is incredibly difficult work.
