Humbucker/P90 disguising - is it possible?
I play an Epiphone Les Paul Junior (Which is great) that comes standard with an awesomely punchy humbucker pickup. I like the way it it plays, sounds and feels but I want more of a classic look. I don't actually want a P90 - jus' the P90 look. Is there anyway I could do that? The humbucker it comes with is amazing - very punchy, loud and stylish. But the ol' Les Paul Junior's didn't have the humbucker. So again, I'm searching for the look - not the sound. Is there a way possible to do that? A cover, a mounting ring - anything?
Is the way the pickup cover looks so important?
If you're trying to get the look of a soapbar or dogear P-90 cover, then probably not. The P-90 pickup is longer than a humbucker and narrower from top to bottom. There are humbucker size P-90's made, but no matter the style of the cover it'll never look like a P-90 because of the dimensions.
EDIT TO ADD:
The Gibson P-94R, while being a humbucker size P-90, does not look like a traditional, classic, soapbar P-90 - and the dimensions are not the same as a real P-90 so it won't look the same. Besides, the asker stated that he likes the way the stock humbucker plays, feels and sounds. He only wants to change the look and not the pickup, so the Gibson P-94R won't do what he's asked.
