I like the hot distortion and tone of the Les paul...but i like the neck (playability) of the strat

im stuck guys...i went to the music store today and i picked up a gibson LP studio and a Fender american strat deluxe (both priced the same but that doesnt matter)..when i plugged it in...i fall in love with the mean dark sound of the LP but the neck, although only 2 mm wider than the strat felt...a little too fat for my liking and i dunno if it'll affect my playing
anywyas the fender sounds really awesome too especially the clean sound...but i play mostly distortion like GnR Zeppelin..etc
BUT i do like the fender neck a lot more its narrower and its non glossy at the back so its easier to slide

Buy a Les Paul and put a Strat neck on it. If there's any sort of problem with gaps where the neck meets the body glue some wood in there or something. It's not hard to customize guitars. Just don't use a saw.

I have a Strat neck lying on the floor right now from when my friend tried customizing his. With a saw. It's taken off proper though. Give me a dollar and it's yours.

EDIT: Andy's right. It would probably be cheaper to buy a Strat and put humbuckers on it, however I don't feel that the secret to the Les Paul's sound lies only in the pickups. If that were the case there would not be a market for $2,000+ guitars. Everyone would buy Epiphones, Squiers, and cheap Ibanez's and put badass pickups on them. The fact of the matter is that the body of the Les Paul is heavier and made of a harder wood than that of a Strat (leading to better sustain) and more of the signature Les Paul growl. (For an example try this simple experiment: Go to the music store and compare the sound of a Telecaster Deluxe, which has dual-humbucking pickups and an almost identical neck to the Strat, to the sound of a Les Paul and I'm sure you'll hear quite a difference. Personally, I love the Telecaster sound and prefer it to that of my Strat, however, in my opinion neither of them hold up to sound of the Les Paul.
