Picking with without guitar pick?
I have been playing bass guitar for 5 years now, and have never really bothered to learn picking properly. I bought an electric 6 string guitar to teach myself and to write music on and i can play a lot easier without a pick and a lot faster, and surprisingly hit the correct string but when i try to use a pick it feels like i am hitting the guitar strings too hard. Is it very abnormal to play a guitar without a pick? I usually play it hit the strings my index finger but in the style of holding a pick
All good classical guitar players play at hyper speed using 2 fingers and no picks.
Bass players... same thing.
Stanly Jordan's has mastered a special "tapping" technique on the guitar's fret board instead of conventional strumming and picking using fingers. If you are comfortable that way, play it that way.
I play with pick and fingers combined which is fun, good for arpeggios, and fast picking.
