Is there a guitar tuning that is a half step down but with the top string dropped?
Is there a guitar tuning that is a half step down but with the top string dropped? Like a mix between drop D and Eb tuning. If so, what is it called?
One guy down there said it's called "drop D half step" which I've never heard. People usually say Drop Db, or more commonly Drop C#.
It's generally understood that a "Drop" tuning is standard tuning with the low note dropped a whole step, you just need to indicate what note that low one ends up being.
Of course, there are no rules for guitar tuning. Certain tunings are popular because they make lots of things easy to play, but experimenting with tunings is always fun. You may even come up with something REALLY cool that you wouldn't have ever played otherwise.
