Why does the total head increase in venturi tube?
In a venturi tube, when the flow travels to the cross sectional area where it begins to decrease, the total head is suddenly increased. Why does that happen? Shouldn't it be decreasing as the flow travels through the tube?

*Edit: So the motive fluid provides power when the tube narrows. But, how does that happen? How is the power being input into the system? Thanks for the help.
Along any streamline, the sum of the pressure head, velocity head and elevation head remains constant. Let's ignore elevation head for now. As the flow becomes more constricted, the velocity increases, so the velocity head increases but the pressure head decreases. In the expansion region, just the opposite happens. Total head is conserved, but pressure head decreases with greater constriction due to the greater velocity head.
