The best advice I can give you with your multitude of questions, is find someone who has been playing guitar for a while, and beg them to help you in your purchase.
In your beginner stage, I don't believe going the Fender/Gibson route would be a wise decision.
For example...The Gibson acoustic I have my eye on will cost me 2-3 grand.
For starter acoustics..look at Applause, Washburn, Yamaha, Takamine, Epiphone, and low entry Fender acoustics. ( Guitar Player magazine always seems to love the low end Fender acoustics)
For a great starter electric, I love the Fender Squires, but remember, you'll need to purchase an amplifier.
If you buy an acoustic at the store...ask them if they would throw in a strap and a couple of Fender medium guitar picks, a new set of strings( I like D'Addario J-15)...maybe even a pitch pipe, which will help you develop your ear in tuning, although tuners are so cheap these days($20) it would be a wise investment.
Concert pitch is A=440, which is simply the frequency of the wavelength that the note A vibrates at. A long time ago, someone decided to make it this pitch. It is considered the standard for tuning.
Standard tuning is simply the tuning of each of the 6 strings of your guitar...E-A-D-G-B-E.
Nylon strings are usually associated with classical or flamenco guitars. Just different types of guitars then steel strings, which are more associated with rock, country..etc.
