i currently have an ibanez s520 electric guitar with EB super slinkies in place and was wondering if this pickup combo would be good for anything like Led Zeppelin, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Muse, A7X

Lucas man is right that all the bands used different guitars. But, they all had something in common, they all use humbuckers. Even Iron Maiden, Dave Murray replaced his single coils with DiMarzio hotrails (stacked humbucker). Most humbuckers can get you close to anyone of these bands sounds... however, there will be much more emphasis on the distortion used and the settings on the pedal. Most of those bands you can probably get with a Boss Metal Zone. Led Zeppelin may need something a bit lighter like a Blues Driver.
An EQ is helpful, but most amps have EQ's on them. Those knobs that say bass, treble, mid.... thats a 3 band parametric EQ. You should me able to get most EQ setting sounds out of that.
Also, for the most part, your neck pickup is irrelevant. You will be using the bridge humbucker for almost every song by each of these bands as well as bleeding off almost all the bass on the tone knob on your guitar.
