What's the best brand of guitar strings to match with a fender american strat? also, what string gauge should it be?

I would recommend Ernie Ball strings, (Super Slinky) gauge .009-.042 or (Regular Slinky) .010-.046.
Fender guitars normally come with gauge .009-..046 (Super Slinky) which you can check on the website.
The thinner the gauge the easier it is to play, but you sacrifice tone. If you get heavier gauge (12's/13's) they will be A LOT harder to play, but better tone. Also, if you fit heavier strings you will often need to get the guitar set up as it can change the neck because of the tension from the string.
I would say your best bet would be 9's or 10's.
