I have an external hard drive which I occasionally plug in, but it takes forever to back up my files using Time Machine. Any suggestions to make this process faster?
When you first run Time Machine it does take a little while after it finds the items that are running and the data that you have gathered, after that it just updates as you go along. There are applications like that now yet Apple has their own that works with the computer.

Now as for me I do a weekly and monthly backup of items on my computer I have a MacBook Pro and other computers as well yet the laptop has all the info I need to keep on top of that. So I backup the data to a Hard Drive, then I also burn a DVD of the important document, as well as upload my address book and numbers to the Internet yeah I try to keep it safe.
Yet many I know do not like Time Machine as it runs to much in the background taking away from the CPU. Question to ask do you loose info or data that is really important and if you are backing up your data now on a Hard Drive other than Time Machine do you need TM.
