Calling All Guitarists- First time Buyer in need of help!!!?
Hey! I'm getting my first guitar on Friday, I'm getting an Epiphone Acoustic and I'm really excited. :]
I have a few questions though...
a) For strings, I hear the ones that come with the guitar are terrible so what guitar strings do you recommend? I hear a lot of good things about Martin strings...
b) I was wondering if I buy the guitar at the store, will the people at the store change the strings if I ask them to? Will this cost extra? And if they don't offer this service, would I have to change it myself?
c) If the neck and fretboard is dirty or messy, what should I use to clean it and how? People have suggested using lemon oil for the neck and fretboard conditioner for the fretboard. If that stuff works, how do I use it to clean my guitar?
d) If there is fret buzz, what should I do?

Hey for Epiphone guitars, the strings that come with the guitar are just fine, u only have to change them when either they get out of tune frequently or break.
Most stores would charge you the cost of buying the strings, but as an added service they won't charge a service charge for changing the strings, if they're really old strings then its reasonable to request strings change for free.
When cleaning the guitar, a slightly damp cloth is fine to clean with but go back to the store, they'd help u polish and maintain the guitar.
As for fret buzz, u could request that the truss rod be adjusted, to a certain height so that the strings are neither too high nor too low from the fretboard up, at a height u are comfortable with.
