How does one pack efficiently for a two week trip?
When I travel, I often tend to over pack. What do you pack for a two week trip (From Dallas to Guadalajara Mexico)?
I recently returned from a 26 day trip from Ft. Lauderdale to Venice, Italy via ship, and did it with a carry-on bag! Every bit of clothing I packed was something that could be hand-washed in a sink, hung to dry overnight in the shower, and never needed ironing. Therefore, I could take less volume of stuff and still have the wide variety of clothing necessary -- one formal outfit, some less formal things for evening, shorts and tops for hot weather, slacks and longsleeve top for conservative sightseeing (cathedrals), swimsuit and coverup, nightie, and undies. I took one little black evening bag, black flats that went with all evening clothing, flipflops, and sandals. For travel I wore my sneakers -- saved room in the suitcase and was comfortable! Because of the limit on liquids in carry-on luggage I purchased sunscreen and hair conditioner at the first port of call. I still had room in my suitcase for an alarm clock, two paperback books, and totebag, and never needed to use the zipper that expands the size of the suitcase to risk having to check it.
