How can I hook up my studio monitors to my television?
I have two m-audio BX5a studio monitors that I use with my computer to listen to music and produce occasionally. They run through an m-audio fast track interface so I know that that's the only way they could work on my computer, or at least that is what the guys at my local guitar center told me. Now that I have a nice TV and an Xbox 360, i want to somehow hook the monitors up to my TV because the sound on my tv sucks and yeah I have no idea how I would do this. I'm quite sure I need some type of cable, and I'm hoping maybe someone on here may know? The monitors both have TRS inputs in the back of them. My theory is that if I buy a trs cable with a headphone jack at the end of it, and plug them up to my tv that way, it should work, but since i use the interface with my computer, im not sure if i will need one for my tv as well or what. If anyone has any ideas, suggestions, or just downright answers, i would be SOOOOOOOOO happy. Thanks to all
What the other answers are not realizing is that those M-Audio speakers are POWERED speakers - they have amps built in. Most studio monitors are powered now.
All you need is some type of red/white RCA audio output on the TV or better would be a headphone jack (the volume is controlled that way).
All you need is a standard 3.5mm to 1/4 inch cable like this (if you have a headphone jack on the TV):
