I am having trouble tuning my new Mahalo Ukulele?
So yesterday i went to Bonerattle and baught a red mahalo ukulele it didnt say what kind it was but it looks like a concert/tenor ukulele it says it's No.U30G-RD im assuming the RD means Red and U means Ukulele but im not sure. Im using my guitar tuner by "Guitar PROFESSOR" to tune the ukulele i know that Tenor and concert ukuleles are tuned in GCEA but my guitar tuner says its tuned in EBDG? if i'm using this tuner how should i tune my ukulele? I'm not even sure what ukulele i have perhaps you can answer all my questions.
Your tuner should pick up any of the major notes,so it would appear that your uke is tuned too far away from where it should be for the tuner to register. Clip on tuners are great, but they do require that you get somewhere near the note before they really work.
Your uke should definitely be GCEA.
What I would suggest is you use the first link below to get your uke tuned by ear as close as you can get to GCEA and then use your tuner to fine tune. Second link is all about tuning ukes!
