Marine Corps Dress Blue Cover and uniform differences?
Curious, why is it that vintage photos of Marines in their dress uniform, their covers are tilted sideways. Mainly all current photos of Marines show their white top cover straight? Also, when do Marines receive their actual dress blues? I found some photos of my father when he was a Marine. I don't see my father anymore since he abandoned us so I can't ask him. All I know is he graduated from Parris Island in the late 60's. In one photo, he is in a dark green outfit, with a green cap, not the "triangle" cover, it's like the famous Marine white cover but green. I am assuming this was his graduation photo. In another photo, he is in the more common Marine dress blues with the white cover. What do the different uniforms represent? Just curious.
And many times also in those old photos they are looking to the right or left of the camera. I have no idea why they did that.
The green uniform is the service Alphas. You can wear the triangle (piss cover) cover or the barracks cover with that uniform. The "barracks" cover is either white or green. The top is interchangeable, or you buy two cover frames. The white is obviously used with the dress blues.
All branches have different uniforms used for various occasions. The green service A uniform is used by Marines to check into new commands and in other occasions. Back then it was what they graduated in. But even back then their boot camp picture was done in dress blues.
