Should I get EMG 89 pickups or a BOSS processor?
Odd question, I know. Though budget is real tight right now & I may get laid off. Though for sure I want to change the sound of my guitar. I have an LTD FX-260SM with passive ESP LH-301 pickups. I've always wanted to go active, with either both pups EMG 89's or have a EMG 81TW & 89 set up. Though I'm currently using a Digitech RP250 processor, which isn't that good. I love BOSS processors & yet to own one. I'm thinking of going after a BOSS ME-70 which cost as much as the 2 EMG's.
Which should I go after for a sound change?
If I go for the pickups... The 89's are the same as the 85's, but with the coil tap feature & 81TW's are the same as 81 with the same feature... So should I go 89 & 89, or 81TW & 89? I know the guitarists of Galneryus uses 89 & 89 & the sound I'm aiming for is similar to that.
I'd go with the EMG, EMG 85s are the greatest pickups ever made in my opinion, havent tried 89s but im guessing theyre even better!
