Bass Multi Effects

How do I set up my guitar processor into my amp?
I'm a total noob when it comes to multi-effects pedals and amp cabinets. I've always just ran a stompbox into my little 80-watt clunker and went at it. I just bought a Digitech RP150 and a Randall RX120 head/cab combo. I've been just winging it with the rig as it is, but I keep finding that I have just so much bass or mids on one end (Either in my pedal or on the amp.) and when I change something, the sound on everything else just turns to junk. There just seems to be no middle ground. Is there a setting where I should start from, like setting everything on my clean channel on my amp to a certain point and just letting the pedal do all the work? Or should I let the amp handle the equalizations and just run the distortion and whatnot through the amp and let it handle things from there? (I'm kinda leaning towards option 1 and am more wanting to know what the amp should be set on first so I can just work the pedal and be done with it.) Thanks in advance.
Is your Randall a head & speaker cab set-up, or a combo amp? Usually, I have found more success with those effects processors when I tune the EQ on the AMP "flat" (all EQ levels are dead center), and leave the amp clean. Then I really tune in the EQs of my settings on the processor. I really take a lot of time to make sure that each channel and each sound (my clean setting, crunch setting, delay setting, etc.) are clear, understandable and at the appropriate levels (my crunch setting would be a little louder than my clean, etc.). Really take time with it...keep in mind, these processors are meant to kind of "take over." Main thing: pay very close attention to the EQ and the volume levels of each channel.
Good Luck
